On December 17, 2008, DHS' United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) posted an "interim final rule" in the Federal Register making changes to Form I-9 and reducing the documents employers can accept to satisfy the forms requirements. The new I-9 form is effective February 2, 2009.
